Pochettino interested in Manchester United job

Mauricio Pochettino responds to Man Utd links

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino has stated that he remains committed to his job in the wake of Jose Mourinho's departure from Manchester United and the rumours linking him as a possible replacement.

Tottenham are looking to win their first silverware under manager Pochettino and their first since 2008 when they lifted the League Cup by beating Chelsea in the final. No one knows. The most important is to enjoy the journey. In a more surprising move, Solskjaer has stepped in until the end of the season despite his disastrous spell in charge of Cardiff City in 2014, his only previous Premier League managerial experience.

And it's Spurs boss Pochettino that Neville suggests should be next permanent United manager, despite his failure to win a trophy at Tottenham.

Pochettino has emerged as bookmakers' favourite to succeed Mourinho, with the Argentine viewed as a suitable long-term candidate to deliver attacking football and develop young talent at Old Trafford.

The 46-year-old signed a new five-year deal with the London club in May amid interest from Real Madrid and he has spoken at length this season about wanting to see the project at the club through, starting with moving them into the new stadium. My business is trying to ensure the best job at this club.

However, the Argentinian was in no mood to discuss the new vacancy at his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday's EFL Cup clash with Arsenal, instead choosing to focus on his future with Tottenham. "It's not like people came from I don't know where and said: 'What is the cost of the new stadium and new facilities?" But I accept that sometimes it's for us and sometimes it's against us, and I think this season we're going to suffer.

"We were talking a few weeks ago and I said if a chairman or president is going to support you, then it's because you are going to be sacked the day after".

"We need to assess him because he had a cold this morning and he didn't go outside to train", said Pochettino. The skills that Mitchell has developed since retiring early through injured aged 27, could make him, nine years on, the key man to make that happen.

However, the main talking point wasn't either of the Spurs goals, but an incident that occurred in the 73rd minute of the match when an Arsenal fan stupidly lobbed a plastic bottle at goalscorer Alli, which hit the player bang on the head.
