Stores offering deals, staying open late on Christmas Eve

Phoenicia Specialty Foods (Downtown): Open on Christmas Eve. You want a place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the home during the holidays - a chance to slip out of the house and meet up with old friends, and possibly bring those favorite siblings or cousins along with you.

Target will stay open until 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve. And so does Kohl's which has been open non-stop since 7 a.m. on December 21.

On New Year's Day numerous shops will open slightly later at 9am until 9pm and then normal opening hours will resume the following day on Wednesday 2 January. All stores across the nation will be closed on Christmas Day so employees can celebrate with their families.

Walmart: Christmas Eve: Open until 6 p.m.

62% of those surveyed said that their habits probably wouldn't change in the next year with a further 22% believing that they may buy more online next Christmas rather than hitting the shops. All 24-hour stores will have those regular hours as well.

To make the stressful holidays a little easier, we've compiled information regarding which popular stores and destinations will be open or closed during the holidays.

Eating out on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day can be hard, as a lot of places are closed for the holiday. That means subway service starts at 8 a.m.

Yorkdale Mall: 8 a.m.to 11 p.m.

Scarborough Town Centre Christmas Eve - 8 a.m.to 6 p.m. Christmas Day - closed Boxing Day - 8 a.m.to 10 p.m. It's closed on Christmas Day.

Select Walgreens and CVS locations will be open on Christmas Day.

The Common Loon Pub will open at 5 p.m. on Christmas Day with a Christmas dinner special and a screening of what some say is the ultimate Christmas movie, "Die Hard".
