Wolves 0-2 Liverpool - As it happened and social media reaction

Manchester City won the title last season with a record 100 points but such has been the pace at the top this season that Jurgen Klopp believes even more might be needed this time

The Reds beat Wolves 2-0 at Molineux on Friday night, goals from Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk sealing the win.

"If all the other teams win tomorrow, then I think three or four teams have more than 40 points, which is really exceptional".

The hosts have taken points off Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United already this season, but they looked short of ideas in the second half and Liverpool nearly added a third when Patricio thwarted Salah from a tight angle before Mane nodded off target from the resulting corner.

Jurgen Klopp's unbeaten Reds, who have conceded just seven goals in 18 league games this season, will now top the table on Christmas Day regardless of Manchester City's result against Crystal Palace today.

"It's a position that everyone wants to be in and we are in it at the moment". "The workrate in general is outstanding with how we defended". Especially with the rain tonight, heavy rain, it made it a little bit more complicated. It was a big fight.

"It was clear that the whole game would be hard", Klopp said to BBC Sport after Salah starred at a wet Molineux.

"It was brilliant - both goals". It was flawless football, especially on a night when it was hard to play proper football.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool is now flying high in the Premier League as they sit at the summit of the English top division league with 45 points after 17 games.

But Liverpool grabbed the lead in the 18th minute with a beautifully-worked goal.

Klopp said Keita had suffered two separate cuts in his leg and foot from challenges, but did not expect his injuries to keep him out of action. Liverpool had been sloppy at the back, Alisson getting lucky after he was nearly robbed by Raul Jimenez, and Matt Doherty tested the goalkeeper as Wolves searched for a leveller.

Salah seemed slightly short of confidence in the early months, particularly when he snatched at chances in front of goal, but he looks to be back to the form that saw him finish last season as the league's top scorer with 32 goals.
