Ben Roethlisberger Issues New Comment On WR Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown Reportedly Missed Game Due to Dispute with Roethlisberger

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on Monday that Brown did not play in the Steelers' win against the Bengals after having a dispute with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Then, Brown made a decision to leave Heinz Field at halftime, causing even more of a stir. "I think the biggest thing is, some of the guys that I've talked to, they tried to reach out to him and they haven't heard back".

Antonio Brown (L) has requested a trade after an alleged spat with Steelers teammate Ben Roethlisberger (R).

Tomlin did not deny that there comes a point when a player could be more of a distraction than he's worth. "That player said the entire situation and the way it was handled affected his desire to play in the game". So, I've been real clear at outlining what transpired, the level of communication, things of that nature.

As Tomlin detailed his interactions with Brown during Week 17, the wide receiver posted an interesting quote on Twitter, then curiously followed the 49ers on Instagram.

The quarterback added he didn't know why Brown was avoiding his teammates.

Multiple sources told Kinkhabwala, however, that Roethlisberger and Brown had "a little bit of a disagreement" during last Wednesday's walkthrough. Not only is Brown one of the top-three receivers in the league, but he signed a contract extension in February and is under control until 2021. "I consider him one of my closer friends".

"If there was a blowup or something, I sure as heck didn't see it", Roethlisberger said (via ESPN).

"I talked to him prior to the game on Sunday", Tomlin said. The Niners are armed with only five picks in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, and general manager John Lynch is going to need all of them to address the numerous holes and depth issues the team has going into the new year.

When asked if Brown quit on his team, Tomlin answered: "You can call it what you want to call it".
