Chris Christie Rips Jared Kushner’s Father for ‘Loathsome, Disgusting Crimes’

Chris Christie Jared Kushner

"You've been friends with Trump for 16 years", said Hostin.

Christie, 56, joined The View's co-hosts to promote and discuss his new book, Let Me Finish.

Colbert then jumped right into the topic of President Donald Trump's government shutdown, asking Christie when he thought "the wheels came off".

Colbert asked what Christie gets out of his 17-year friendship with the infamously transactional Trump.

Christie started the interview by taking a large shot of tequila.

According to the Times, Christie recalls the October 2016 release of the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape, where Trump can be heard bragging in crass terms about groping and kissing women without consent.

The pair continued the conversation about who Christie's current constituency. "It's one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes that I prosecuted when I was USA attorney".

Trump allegedly argued, saying that Christie was doing his job: "He was doing what he was supposed to be doing, your father pled guilty".

"The way you can do that is to keep talking about it and tweeting about it, because every time you do that, prosecutors say, 'Great, more things for us to chase down'". As a US attorney, Christie prosecuted Kushner's father, Charles, for tax evasion, witness tampering and illegal campaign contributions, sending the elder Kushner to prison in 2004. I mean If a guy hires a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, and videotapes it, and then sends the videotape to his sister to attempt to intimidate her from testifying before a grand jury, do I really need any more justification than that?'

Charles Kushner, a multimillionaire real estate developer, pleaded guilty in 2004 to 18 counts of tax evasion, witness tampering and making illegal campaign contributions. Because sometimes in politics, things don't go the way you expect. And I think that's one of the reasons they got rid of me, was because they didn't want to have somebody who had been an executive in government, who was an executive in government at that time. Colbert asked, to which Christie replied, "Listen, before we get to that, are we drinking tonight or not?" He was sentenced to 24 months in prison and served 14.
