Google Maps iOS, Android Update Adds Speed Trap Warnings

Speed limit feature now showing up in Google Maps for some users

Google Maps is beginning to roll out speed limits to more users across the US.

Some users in New York City, Los Angeles and Minnesota have spotted the features, after they were first being tested in Rio, Brazil and the San Francisco Bay Area. It looks like Google has no plans to sideline the feature as it is rolling out to more users. The speed trap data is a brand new feature and should help some drivers avoid speeding tickets. In November, Google Maps conducted a speed traps test, which will help it improve vehicle incident evaluations in the future. According to a statement by Android Police last November, it was also suggested that rash and speed traps were already being reported.

Google Maps is the most popular app for getting driving directions from one place to another.

The main difference between these knock-off apps and real Google Maps usually came down to a redesigned home screen with a tweaked or sometimes stolen UI that functioned as way to serve up ads while also masking the fact the app was really running off of Google's data all along. This app is known as Waze app and it not made or you can say developed by Google. As per the report by Android Police report, the speed limit icon has now located inside Google Maps. Though it does make the most sense in the navigation portion of the app, since most people do use Google Maps when they are going somewhere they haven't gone before. Google Maps does not quite have that functionality yet, but that might be coming in the near future.

Reports of Google Maps testing the features come as several Reddit users began noticing a report button in the app past year.

Based on his results, he determined that Google Maps gets users to their destination fastest.

The new feature displays the speed limits as well as the icon to denote the location of speed cameras.
