Gutfeld: Trump Should Acknowledge Dems' 'Personal Vendetta' Against Him in Nat'l Address

A section of the reinforced US-Mexico border

Trump's Oval Office speech - his first as president - will be followed by his visit Thursday to the southern border to highlight his demand for a barrier.

Sources familiar with the matter indicated that the president is not expected to announce he's declaring a national emergency in his address Tuesday night, but Conway told reporters the idea remains under consideration and is under review by lawyers in the White House counsel's office.

President Trump plans to address the nation on Tuesday regarding the government shutdown.

Senator Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat, said his party had been willing to compromise with President Donald Trump on the issue of border security, though Democrats refused to allocate any of the $5.7 billion demanded by the White House to fund the wall.

The top two Democrats in Congress went on to say, "The facts are clear: President Trump has the power to stop hurting the country by re-opening the government and ending the Trump Shutdown".

While top Democratic leaders once condemned illegal immigration and favored a border barrier, now they insist it is a wasteful proposal and even, in the estimation of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, "immoral".

White House officials affirmed Trump's funding request in a letter to Capitol Hill after a meeting Sunday with senior congressional aides led by Vice President Mike Pence at the White House complex yielded little progress.

There were other signs the administration is working to contain the fallout from the shutdown, which has furloughed 380,000 federal workers and forced an additional 420,000 to work without pay.

All four living former presidents said they didn't tell President Donald Trump they regretted not building a wall on the U.S.

Sanders said Trump is "not going to stop" until he figures out the best way to protect US citizens and that "whatever action he takes will certainly be lawful".

But Trump and the Transportation Security Administration pushed back on any suggestion that the call-outs at the agency represented a "sickout" that was having a significant effect on US air travel.

Along with $5.6 billion for the wall, the administration has called for another $800 million for "urgent humanitarian needs" to take care of migrants at the border. He exhorted Democrats in Congress to "come back from vacation" and approve funding for his wall.

Advisers have warned Trump about the legal battle the administration will surely face if he does declare a national emergency to fulfill his signature campaign promise amid a clash with Democrats over funding the wall.

Democrats want to reopen government before continuing negotiations on border security, but will not be deterred by Republicans' refusal to do so, he said.

Trump has tasked Pence to negotiate with Democrats, including during weekend talks. "Unfortunately, President Trump keeps rejecting the bipartisan House-passed bills, which have already received strong bipartisan support in the Senate, to re-open the government". Some of them have told me that we should have done it'.

"I am all for the wall", Ingraham said after playing devil's advocate in response to Conway's claims about drugs flowing over the border.
