Chelsea-linked Zidane set for Real Madrid return

According to Marca, via The Mirror, Real Madrid are on the verge of sacking manager Santiago Solari and replacing him with Zidane.

Zidane is expected to join the club Tuesday during training.

Madrid were then humbled 4-1 by Ajax in the Champions League last-16 second leg, ending their three-year spell as European champions.

As a effect, manager Santiago Solari's future at the club seems to be uncertain, as well as the futures of a few first-team players, namely Marcelo.

Hazard is expected to tell Chelsea he wants to join Real and has not given the London club any encouragement that he will sign the contract extension worth well over £300,000-a-week that has been on the table for months. "But it will not be easy and I predict it will be very hard over the next three months".

Undoubtedly the summer promises to be fascinating in terms of players leaving Real and the club bringing signings in.

Zinedine Zidane says he has "recharged his batteries" and wants to bring the glory days back to Real Madrid.

Zidane, who won the last three Champions League titles with the club, is back just nine months since he first left the club, claiming the club needed a "different voice".

Madrid ranks third in La Liga, behind leaders FC Barcelona.

"Real Madrid thanks Santiago Solari for his work done and the commitment and loyalty he has shown to what is his home".

A major difference between the Real Zidane left and that which he is re-entering is Cristiano Ronaldo no longer being at the club.

Ramos was reportedly engaged in a heated argument with club president Florentino Perez after the game, in which he countered accusations of unprofessionalism by attributing Madrid's problems to bad planning at the top of the club.

Solari took over from Lopetegui as an interim coach and eventually was given a full-time job - with a contract until 2021 - after putting the team back on track.

The Champions League is supposed to be pretty hard to win but not for this guy.
