IPL 2019: Jadeja, Stokes lose footing, ball sails for a six

Dhoni fined 50% match fee for confronting umpires

Chennai's skipper MS Dhoni was seen extremely angry at the umpires in the last over while chasing 152-run target against Ajinkya Rahane-led Rajasthan team during an Indian Premier League match on Thursday.

The former India captain, however, escaped a ban and was let off with a 50 per cent fine on his match fee.

Dhoni was later fined 50 per cent of his match fees for a Code of Conduct breach, having admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.20 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. The skipper however uncharacteristically lost his cool when a waist-high no-ball to Mitchell Santner was ruled out by umpire Ulhas Gandhe after trying to raise his arm.

A wide followed after which Santner lofted the final delivery - a full toss - over long-on to send the Jaipur crowd into a frenzy.

"Our understanding was that the umpire at the bowler's end had called the no ball and then there was confusion around whether it was a no ball or not".

The fifth ball was wise but it gave two runs and the last ball was wide and on the final ball, Santner hit the winning runs with a lovely six. Image sourceQuite dramatically, the decision was reversed after Gandhe consulted square leg umpire Bruce Oxenford over the decision. leaving people in shock, a furious Dhoni, who was seated in the dugout, crossed the boundary rope and confronted the umpires asking them the reason behind the change of decision.

"MS was after some clarity and it didn't seem to be coming so he took the opportunity to go out and discuss it with the umpires".

"Obviously tensions are running high in the IPL, every run counts and it was a big moment in the game", the Englishman said.

The last time Chennai won in Jaipur was way back in 2012. "But whether stepping on to the pitch is right, no, probably not".

Meanwhile, after the super-thrilling CSK win last night, Dhoni has become the first ever captain to achieve the feat of 100 IPL wins to his credit.

Amidst this drama, Chennai Super Kings registered their sixth win in the IPL 2019 and continue to sit at the top of the table with 12 points.
